ACADEMICS

Gables Heritage School teaches all curriculums in accordance to Manitoba Education requirements. Potentially sensitive issues in the curriculum will be addressed with advice from the School Board and Home and School to reflect the context in such a way as it aligns best with the community values.

ELA

English Language Arts (ELA) is a subject that encompasses reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. In kindergarten, students begin to learn the basics of phonics, letter recognition, and sight words. As they progress through the grades, they build on these skills and learn more advanced concepts such as grammar, vocabulary, and literary analysis. By the time students reach grade 8, they should be able to read and comprehend complex texts, write clear and coherent essays, and effectively communicate their ideas through speaking and listening activities.

Math

Mathematics is an important subject that is taught from kindergarten through 8th grade. In the early years, we learn about numbers, counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We also learn about shapes, patterns, and measurements. As we progress through the grades, we build on these foundational concepts and explore more advanced topics such as algebra, geometry, and statistics. By mastering these skills, we can think critically, solve problems, and make sense of the world around us.

Social Studies

Social Studies explores the relationships between individuals, communities, and societies. It covers a wide range of topics, including history, geography, economics, and politics. Through the study of Social Studies, students gain a deeper understanding of the world around them and develop critical thinking skills that are essential for success in today's global society.

Through observation, experimentation, and exploration, we can discover new things about the world and make amazing discoveries that can change our lives. Whether you're learning about plants, animals, rocks, or the human body, science is an exciting and fascinating subject that can open up a whole new world of knowledge and discovery.

Art

Art is an essential part of a child's education, and we believe that every child should have access to quality art education. We have specialized Art instruction once per month, from a volunteer Certified Teacher, above the art that is integrated into our curriculum. We strive to create a fun and engaging learning environment where students can explore their creativity and develop their artistic skills.
